The History of ComfortDelGro Cabcharge

In 2005, ComfortDelGro and Cabcharge (WestBus) acquired the businesses and assets of the largest bus operator, the Westbus Group in Australia's most populous state, New South Wales. This venture marked ComfortDelGro's entry into the Australian market. Our partner in this venture was Cabcharge Australia Limited who owns 49% of ComfortDelGro Cabcharge Pty Ltd.

In July 2006, WestBus acquired bus routes and assets of Holroyd Bus Lines Pty Ltd in the New South Wales' Metropolitan Region 3. A year later, the Group acquired the business and assets of Toronto Bus Services, a bus and coach operator in the Newcastle region of New South Wales. In November 2008, WestBus purchased the Kefford Corporation in Victoria. With a fleet of 328 buses and six depots, was the third-largest bus operator in Geelong and Ballarat, in Melbourne.

In September 2012 Deane's Transit Group including Deane's Bus lines was purchased in Queanbeyan NSW and now known as Qcity Transit. Operating in the local areas of Queanbeyan and Canberra, and Transborder Express with services between Yass and Canberra.

From 1 December 2014 WestBus commenced operations of Blue Mountains Bus Company. It operates depots in Emu Plains, Leura and Valley Heights and now known as Blue Mountains Transit.

WestBus is a major Australian operator of passenger land transport. WestBus is one of the largest private operators in Sydney, NSW and the only operator that holds a:
- Sydney Metropolitan and Outer Metropolitan bus service contracts
- Rural and Regional bus service contracts
- NSW Train Link and
- Sydney Trains Bus Services.

Hillsbus Region 4

Serving the areas of Blacktown, Rouse Hill, Castle Hill, Dural & Parramatta. This region is operated solely by WestBus’s Hillsbus.

Hunter Valley Buses Regions 2 & 4

 Region 2 cover the areas of Singleton, Maitland, Raymond Terrace and Newcastle  and Region 4 cover the areas of Barnsley, Minmi, Edgeworth, Toronto, and Morisset. These regions are operated solely by WestBus’s Hunter Valley Buses.

Chief Executive Officer - Jim Glasson

Mr Jim Glasson joined the Group in June 2009 and is the Chief Executive Officer of ComfortDelGro  Cabcharge Pty Ltd. Prior to joining the Group, he was Director General of the Ministry of Transport  (MoT) in New South Wales (NSW) since February 2006. Before his appointment as Director General, Mr  Glasson was MoT's Deputy Director General and Executive Director Policy & Strategic Co-ordination Group where he was responsible for the leadership and direction of the Ministry’s policy functions and Ministerial support unit.

Mr Glasson was previously Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Port Kembla Port Corporation. Mr Glasson holds a Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning (Hons) from the University of New England, NSW, Australia.
